The town also houses two private academic institutions undergoing a merger: the Yuihime Girls' Private Academy (私立結姫女子学園 Shiritsu Yuihime Joshi Gakuen?), a notorious upper class girls' academy nicknamed Yuijo (結女?), and the Kagamidai Private Academy (私立各務台学園 Shiritsu Kagamidai Gakuen?), a coeducation school which Shingo, the protagonist whose role the player assumes, attends. As part of the merger, students from both schools are selected to participate in a test class at the Yuihime Girls' Academy campus, an act which is initially opposed by the female student body.

Hidan no Aria

Hidan no Aria (Aria the Scarlet Ammo) is a Japanese light novel series by Chūgaku Akamatsu with illustrations by Kobuichi. As a reliable Informa student, Kinji most of the time, asks for her aid whenever he needs a supply of knowledge about a particular case he is involved at. Jeanne and Riko get along with each other very well.
She is one of the few people that knows Kinji's secret. Her personality is serious and cool. Her first comment about Butei High's skirt is: "Unmarried girls shouldn't openly reveal their legs like this!". However, that notion was pretty much shattered because of Riko's strong influence on her, and she had grown a habit of secretly collecting maid dresses, lolita fashion or any other cute dresses.

Angel Beats!

Angel Beats! is a 13-episode Japanese anime television series produced by P.A. Works and Aniplex and directed by Seiji Kishi. The story was originally conceived by Jun Maeda, who also wrote the screenplay and composed the music, with original character design by Na-Ga; both Maeda and Na-Ga are from the visual novel brand Key, who produced such titles as Kanon, Air, and Clannad. The anime aired in Japan between April 3 and June 26, 2010. Key worked in collaboration with ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's Magazine to produce the project into a media franchise.

Two manga series are serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine: one illustrated by Haruka Komowata, which began serialization in the December 2009 issue, and the other drawn by Yuriko Asami, which started in the May 2010 issue. A series of illustrated short stories written by Maeda and illustrated by GotoP were also serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine between the November 2009 and May 2010 issues. Two Internet radio shows were produced to promote Angel Beats!.

Plot

Angel Beats! takes place at a high school acting as a Purgatory, where students learn to give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before continuing to an afterlife or reincarnation.

While the injury or cause of death are gone, those in the afterlife school can still feel pain or other things as they did when they were alive, as well as dying again, only to awaken with no injures several minutes later. The story follows the main protagonist Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. Upon awakening in the afterlife, he meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the Shinda Sekai Sensen (SSS) (死んだ世界戦線?, lit. Afterlife War Front), an organization she founded and leads which fights against God for the cruel fates the SSS members experienced in life. Their only enemy in the world is the school's student council president Angel, a being with supernatural powers who fights against the SSS. Yuri believes that anyone who follows Angel's orders and behaves like a normal student at the school will eventually disappear and pass on. However, those who fulfill their dreams in the afterlife will pass on as well.

In the SSS, there are two sub-divisions which help in the SSS's operations against Angel. The first is a four-girl band named Girls Dead Monster whose objective in the SSS is to cause a diversion from other activities the SSS is engaged in, while on the surface appearing to be a normal all female band. This includes distracting Angel and a large number of "normal" students and teachers at the school Yuri deems "non-player characters" as they are not human, but look and act the part. Another organization in the SSS is the Guild, located far below the surface of the afterlife world, which serves to supply the weapons the SSS uses against Angel. Anyone in the afterlife is able to create anything out of dirt that they had memories of in life, and the Guild uses this ability to mass produce weapons.

Angel uses a similar ability to create her supernatural powers known as "guard skills", with the aid of a computer program called Angel Player. The primary one that she uses is called "hand sonic", a blade on one or both forearms that is capable of changing into five different forms. Other skills include but are not limited to: "distortion", an invisible barrier that deflects bullets or other projectiles away; "delay", which creates an after-image to disorientate an enemy in close range; and "harmonics", where a clone with a consciousness of its own is formed from the original. These abilities are activated by voicing their name; however, others like "overdrive", which gives her great physical strength, are passive and are always on.

The Guild is purposefully destroyed after Angel infiltrates the compound, but the Guild members relocate to the old Guild location, which Angel does not know about. As Otonashi begins to get used to life in the afterlife, the leader of Girls Dead Monster, Iwasawa, disappears in front of a crowd of people after a solo musical performance. The SSS find out Angel's real name is Kanade Tachibana, and after a successful operation, Kanade loses her position as student council president and the vice president Naoi succeeds her. Unlike Kanade, Naoi cracks down on the SSS and even uses powers of hypnosis to control NPCs to fight for him. Otonashi is able to stop him after acknowledging Naoi's existence and Naoi subsequently joins the SSS. Otonashi regains his memories with the aid of Naoi's hypnosis and agrees to continue with the SSS.

With Kanade a normal student now, Otonashi befriends her and invites her to join in on SSS activities. Kanade uses one of her powers to clone herself while engaged in combat, resulting in a violent red-eyed Angel. The clone replicates itself many times, but the clones are later absorbed back into Kanade after Yuri rewrites the Angel Player program. Kanade manages to overcome the personalities of the violent clones after awakening from the ordeal. Otonashi starts cooperating with Kanade to help the other SSS members move on after he fully remembers the details of his life and death. Kanade is reinstated as student council president in accordance with their plan. Otonashi and Kanade cooperate to allow Yui to pass on by fulfilling her wishes, but it is Hinata in the end who fulfills her final wish to get married that allows her to pass on.

Mysterious shadow monsters appear and begin attacking the SSS. Takamatsu gets devoured by one, only to reappear as an NPC. Otonashi reasons with the other SSS members and many of them agree to pass on in lieu of becoming an NPC, including the rest of Girls Dead Monster, Chaa, and several unnamed members. Yuri notices that the NPCs are turning into the shadows, and her investigation into who is behind this leads her back into the Guild. After receiving help from Otonashi, Kanade, Hinata and Naoi, Yuri meets a boy who tells her he was programmed to activate the shadow program when love was detected in the world. The programmer himself turned into an NPC long before. Yuri destroys the computers responsible for the shadow program. Three days after the incident, Otonashi, Yuri, Kanade, Hinata and Naoi are the only ones yet to pass on. They hold a graduation ceremony where they thank each other for their support. After Yuri, Hinata and Naoi pass on, Otonashi learns that Kanade's regret was not being able to thank him for the heart she received from Otonashi after his death. Otonashi is heartbroken after she thanks him and passes on, as he has fallen in love with her, but he too passes on shortly after. In an epilogue, Otonashi and Kanade meet up again in the real world.

Durarara!!

Durarara!! is a Japanese light novel series written by Ryohgo Narita, with illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda. The real stars disappeared, replaced by false stars. During this time, people possessing various special abilities emerged, each capable of different supernatural feats - these are known as Contractors. Each fake star has a corresponding Contractor, which reacts to their activities. As such, Contractors are usually identified by their star's Messier catalogue number. Kept secret from the masses, these individuals are known to murder in cold blood, smothering unnecessary emotions with logic and rationale. Their incredible abilities, however, are gained at the cost of their humanity - Contractors are thus named because of an involuntary compulsion to "pay the price" each time their power is used, which can range from eating particular foods and completing meaningless tasks, to self-harm and having their bodies change in peculiar ways. Various nations and organizations around the world train and utilize Contractors as spies and assassins, resulting in violent battles for valuable objects and information.

Death Note

The Death Note anime, directed by Tetsurō Araki and animated by Madhouse, began airing in Japan on October 3, 2006, and finished its run on June 26, 2007, totaling 37 twenty-minute episodes. It begins in the year 2006, instead of 2003. The series aired on the Nippon Television network "every Tuesday at 24:56". The series was co-produced by Madhouse, Nippon Television, Shueisha, D.N. Dream Partners and VAP.

In North America, the series has been licensed by Viz for residents in the United States to use "Download-to-Own" and "Download-to-Rent" services while it was still airing in Japan. This move is seen as "significant because it marks the first time a well known Japanese anime property will be made legally available to domestic audiences for download to own while the title still airs on Japanese television". The downloadable episodes contain the original Japanese audio track and English subtitles, and is available through IGN's Windows-only Direct2Drive service. DVDs of the series are also being released,[44] containing both an English dubbed audio track, produced by The Ocean Group, and the original Japanese audio track with optional English subtitles. Viz announced at Anime Expo 2007 that the first DVD was officially released on November 20, 2007, in both regular and special editions, and also confirmed at Comic-Con International 2007 that the first 15,000 copies of each DVD contains collectible figures.

Content
Light Yagami is an intelligent young man who resents what appears to be a relentless increase of crime and corruption in the world around him. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light plans to become a god and establish a new world order by passing his keen judgment on those he deems evil and anyone who gets in his way.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (キラ?, derived from the typical Japanese pronunciation of the English word "killer"), is located in Japan. He also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a nuanced game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

Misa Amane, another Death Note owner, finds Light. Obsessed with Kira after the death of her parents' murderer, she devotes herself to helping Light, but is captured by L. Light makes a plan involving renouncing ownership of both Death Notes, and all of his memories of them, and turns himself in to L for surveillance. Together, Light and L investigate eight people from the company "Yotsuba" who are using a Death Note for their own profit. While arresting them, Light recovers all his memories when he touches the Death Note. He remembers and continues his plan of compelling the former owner of Misa's Death Note, the shinigami Rem, into killing L and his aide Watari.

After L's death, Light is given the position of the "new L" by the Japanese Task Force. Four years later, Near and Mello - two children who were raised to be successors to L - appear, with the goal of finding Kira. In the meantime, Kira has gained much public support, and has contacts. Mello, one of L's successors, kidnaps Sayu Yagami, Light's little sister, as a bargaining chip to get the Death Note. The Japanese Task Force plans to go to Los Angeles to rescue Sayu but ends up losing the Notebook. The Task Force later attempts to retrieve it and succeeds in doing so. However, as a result of an explosion that Mello uses to cover his escape, Light's father Soichiro Yagami dies.

Near begins to suspect the second L of being Kira thus causing some members of the Japanese task force to also openly suspect him. Realizing the risk of being caught, Light has Misa give up ownership of her Death Note. He then finds his next successor, Teru Mikami, a strong, almost crazed Kira supporter. Mikami later recruits a new spokesman for Kira, Kiyomi Takada, a newscaster and one of Light's former college girlfriends. Teru Mikami and Kiyomi Takada continue killing criminals while Light is unable to do so himself. Kiyomi is later kidnapped by Mello and is forced to kill him with a hidden piece of the Death Note. Light kills Kiyomi to avoid her implicating him after she uses the note to kill Mello. Mikami, unaware of this action, writes her name in his notebook, exposing it to the members of the SPK. Near has it replaced with a fake notebook and, in a final confrontation with Light, is able to use it to prove that Light is Kira. Realizing that Light had lost, Ryuk writes down Light's name in his own notebook, killing him with a heart attack.

Clannad

Clannad is produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, who also worked on other adaptations of Key's visual novels Air, and Kanon. The anime aired between October 4, 2007 and March 27, 2008, containing twenty-three aired episodes out of a planned twenty-four; the broadcast time was first announced on August 11, 2007 at the TBS festival Anime Festa, which is also when the first episode was showcased. The anime series was released in a set of eight DVD compilations released between December 19, 2007 and July 16, 2008 by Pony Canyon, with each compilation containing three episodes. Of the 24 episodes, 23 were aired on television with the first 22 being regular episodes, followed by an additional extra episode. The last episode was released as an original video animation (OVA) on the eighth DVD on July 16, 2008 and is set in an alternate universe from the anime series where Tomoya and Tomoyo are dating, which is based on Tomoyo's scenario in the game. The OVA episode was previewed on May 31, 2008 for an audience of four-hundred people picked via a mail-in postcard campaign. A Blu-ray Disc box set of Clannad was released on April 30, 2010 in Japan.

After the ending of the twenty-third episode of the first Clannad anime series, a fifteen-second teaser trailer aired promoting a second season entitled Clannad After Story. The anime is again animated by Kyoto Animation, and animates the After Story arc from the visual novel, which is a continuation of Nagisa's story, into twenty-four episodes. The same staff and cast from the first anime were used and the series broadcast in Japan between October 3, 2008 and March 26, 2009. Of the twenty-four episodes, twenty-two are regular episodes, the twenty-third is an extra episode, and the last episode is a summary episode showcasing highlights from the series. The episodes were released on eight DVD compilation volumes between December 3, 2008 and July 1, 2009. The eighth DVD volume came with an additional OVA episode set in an alternate universe from the anime series where Tomoya and Kyou are dating. The OVA episode was previewed on May 24, 2009 to a limited number of people.

The license holding company Sentai Filmworks licensed the Clannad anime series, and ADV Films localized and distributed the television series and the OVA starting with the first half season box set consisting of twelve episodes with English subtitles, Japanese audio, and no English language track, which was released on March 3, 2009. The second half season box set containing the remaining episodes was released on May 5, 2009. Sentai Filmworks licensed the Clannad After Story anime series; Section23 Films localized and distributed both the television series and OVA starting with the first half season box set with English subtitles released on October 20, 2009. The second half box set was released on December 8, 2009. Sentai Filmworks will re-release Clannad to Region 1 DVD with an English dub. The English dub will premiere in North America on March 25, 2010 on Anime Network.

The opening theme for the first season is "'Mag Mell' ~cuckool mix 2007~" by Eufonius, a remix of the song "'Mag Mell' -cockool mix-", featured on the third disc of the game's original soundtrack, which is itself a remix of the game's opening theme "Mag Mell" (メグメル, Megu Meru?). The first season's ending theme is "The Big Dango Family" (だんご大家族, Dango Daikazoku?) by Chata. It carries the same tune as "Small Palms" (小さなてのひら, Chiisana Tenohira?), the ending theme from the After Story arc of the game. The second season's opening theme is "A Song to Pass the Time" (時を刻む唄, Toki o Kizamu Uta?) which uses the same tune as the background music track "To the Same Heights" (同じ高みへ, Onaji Takami e?) from the game's soundtrack. The ending theme is "Torch", and both the opening and ending themes are sung by Lia. The rest of the soundtrack for both anime series is sampled from several albums released for the Clannad visual novel including the Clannad Original Soundtrack, Mabinogi, -Memento-, Sorarado, and Sorarado Append. The cover art for Sorarado Append is also visible as the last shot in the ending video animation of the first season.

.hack//G.U. Trilogy is an original animated movie based on the events of the .hack//G.U. Games. The movie begins with a short excerpt from The Divine Comedy "I am the way into the city of woe, I am the way to a forsaken people, I am the way into eternal sorrow, Sacred justice moved my architect, I was raised here by Divine omnipotence, primordial love and ultimate intellect, only these elements time cannot wear, and beyond time I stand, Abandon all hope ye who enter here."

Ovan is seen in "The Creator's Room", talking to Aina, who is still sitting in her rocking chair, telling her about Haseo. At the same moment, Haseo is shown running towards Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground, where he sees Tri-Edge PK Shino.

Six months later, Haseo fights against some PKs, searching for information on Tri-Edge. At this point, Haseo has already gained usage of his Edge Punisher and Flick Reaper abilities. Haseo easily defeats all of the PKs.

Back in Mac Anu, Sakaki is talking with Atoli, telling her about PKs, PKKs and how they upset the balance of "The World". Just then, Haseo walks by and Sakaki taunts him, asking whether his fangs are real. Atoli walks up to Haseo and asks him why he PKs. Haseo turns around, and is surprised by Atoli's PC model, mistaking her for Shino. Haseo suddenly receives Short Mail from Ovan, telling him to go to Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground.

At Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground, Haseo approaches Ovan, asking him why he left for half a year, why he neglected the Twilight Brigade. As Haseo was about to state what he became while Ovan was gone, Ovan interrupts and says that Haseo had become "the Terror of Death", surprising Haseo, as Ovan had not logged on at all in the past six months. Ovan tells Haseo that he, too had been searching for a way to save Shino. Ovan then asks if Haseo has enough courage to face Tri-Edge, and states that Tri-Edge will return to Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground that very day. Haseo then enters the cathedral.

As Haseo approached the altar, the A in C major note played, and Tri-Edge appeared in front of Haseo. Haseo rushes into battle, but is hopelessly out-matched by Tri-Edge. Tri-Edge then proceeds to Data Drain Haseo's sword then Haseo himself. As Haseo's PC was being re-initialized, Ovan walks into the cathedral.

Some time later, Haseo regains consciousness in an unknown area, the Serpent of Lore. Here, Haseo meets Yata, Pi and Kuhn. Haseo quickly deduced them to be system administrators. Yata shows Haseo a recording of AIDA, then tells Haseo that he is one of the victims of AIDA, and Haseo deduces (wrongly) that Tri-Edge is the AIDA in question. The number of confirmed victims of AIDA at this point is 112, confirmed by Pi, with none having woken up.

A brief conversation later, Yata asks Haseo for his help. Haseo replies, asking why system administrators would need the help of someone like him. Pi reveals to him that he has "a certain hidden power", referring to his Avatar and him being a Epitaph PC. Yata proceeds to tell him that if he could awake this power, he would be able to defeat Tri-Edge hands-down.

The conversation continues, with punctuations of battle in what seems to be an Arena. Yata tells Haseo that will power is equal to strength, and that true strength is only possible with strong willpower. In the brief scenes of battle, Haseo is shown to have gained his second form. He is then defeated by an unnamed PC. Haseo's vision fades out.

Fading back in, a view of Mac Anu is shown. Atoli is waiting for Haseo at the Chaos Gate. When Haseo arrives, she immediately approaches the Chaos Gate and tried to exchange member addresses with him. Atoli reveals that she always had wanted to meet Haseo again ever since they met in Mac Anu before. Haseo laughs at this, and proceeds to walk off, but Atoli sudenly stated that Haseo looked sad, and that she would like to help him. With this, Haseo says that that was crap, and walks off.

Yata and Pi are having a conversation in The Serpent of Lore, where Pi reports to Yata that Haseo's powers are still completely dormant. Despite shunning Atoli, it is shown on The Serpent of Lore's screen that Haseo and Atoli are spending time together. Pi concernedly asks if this would affect Haseo's willpower and bloodthirst for Tri-Edge,and interfere with Skeith's awakening. Yata dismisses this, saying that the criteria for awakening the Avatars was a thirst for power, a mental shock and a total liberation of the most basic instincts. Pi agrees, stating that Haseo's arrogance was instinctive but it would still affect his awakening. Yata denies this again, with the reason being that if Haseo would ever become weaker, Ovan would make a move against him, but as Ovan was still quietly watching in the background, there were no problems with Haseo's power. Yata was content to watch the darkness in Haseo's heart from a safe distance.

Haseo and Atoli are shown in an area, fighting against monsters. As Atoli congratulates Haseo for defeating the monster, Haseo interrupts her, telling her that he needed to become much, much stronger, so he could kill Tri-Edge. Atoli then questions Haseo about the reason for becoming stronger. Haseo sees Shino instead of Atoli for a moment, then responds, stating that wanting to become stronger in a game was only natural. Atoli counters that by saying that there was no goal in strength, and that she would prefer to look at the scenery around her and interact with other people rather than just fighting all the time. Haseo then tells Atoli that everything in The World was just polygons with textures slapped onto them, and that the only "real" things were the players. Haseo commands Atoli to leave, which she does.

Later, Atoli meets Ovan in Mac Anu. They have a short conversation about Atoli's situation in the real world and in the game. Ovan then tells Atoli how to approach Haseo, but what Ovan told her is not revealed. Atoli, however, shows some surprise at what Ovan said. The scene changes to Haseo talking with Yata in The Serpent of Lore. Yata informs Haseo that Atoli disappeared after entering the Chaos Gate in Mac Anu. When Yata tried to survey the area through the Serpent of Lore, however, access was denied.

Haseo, Pi and Kuhn follow Atoli and travel to a room with nothing but lockers. Atoli is shown trying to pull open locker number 0006. At this point, what Ovan told Atoli to do to approach Haseo was to find Tri-Edge and let Haseo understand her feelings. Haseo and Atoli have another short conversation where Atoli reveals to Haseo that Ovan had told her the entire story and the main reason why Haseo wanted to kill Tri-Edge that badly. Atoli begs Haseo to let go of his past and start looking at the world again, instead of looking just for Shino and Tri-Edge. Haseo walks over to Atoli to comfort her, but suddenly the A in C major note is played again. Behind Pi and Kuhn, Tri-Edge appears.

Haseo prepares to engage him, but Tri-Edge uses his Empty Skies to rip open the ground, causing the PC within to teleport into what seems to be Avatar Space. Tri-Edge then transforms into his Azure Flame God form. Pi, Kuhn and Atoli warp back into the locker room and Haseo activates his Avatar, Skeith. A heated battle ensues, and Haseo defeats Tri-Edge, barely escaping death at one point. Tri-Edge dissipates into data fragments and disappears for the rest of the movie.

After the battle, Haseo and the others are back in the locker room. The portion of floor which Tri-Edge broke open has the same look as Avatar Space. Haseo was about to apologize to Atoli when the lockers all opened, AIDA gushing forth and infecting Atoli.

It has been shown in limited theaters in Japan starting on December 22, 2007. It was later released on Blu-Ray and DVD March 25, 2008. A North American version of Trilogy has been announced for July 2009.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://anime-heaven-v2.blogspot.com/2010/08/hackgu-trilogy.html' title='.hack//G.U.
